ReLEx SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) is a minimally invasive laser surgery used to treat myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism by removing a small piece of corneal tissue. Unlike LASIK, which requires creating a corneal flap, SMILE involves a single small incision through which the lenticule (a disc-shaped piece of tissue) is removed, reshaping the cornea.
This technique offers several advantages, including less disruption to the corneal structure, faster recovery times, and a lower risk of complications. It is particularly suitable for patients with higher degrees of myopia.
ReLEx SMILE is a safe and effective alternative to traditional laser eye surgeries, providing long-lasting visual improvement with minimal discomfort.
